Lust of power matters above all (22-07-08)

At last NDA under the auspices of BJP is getting clear. The BJP supremo and its Prime Ministerial candidate LK Advani has made it clear that neither his party nor the NDA is against the deal and even do not want it to be scrapped but certainly to renegotiate. However what did he try to mean by the term “renegotiate” is not clear. Does it want the implementation of the same agreement in a new manner and to be inked by him? Or does he want to make an individual testament? Whatever it is this proves that BJP as a party is in accordance with the agreement but desires to be the chief bargainer instead of UPA.

Now why shouldn’t they? The party with the legacy of Janasangha, if we remember the days of Cold War, has always been an exponent of Indo-US alliance and thus to deal with the saga of Indian problems and the rising Islamic fundamentalism.

Why the party therefore has an outrage? Is it not for the lure of power? It seems that it is getting difficult for BJP to retain NDA without the controlling power if we care to give a glance on its dwindling partners.

But there are other questions also. It has mentioned “we are not against nuclear energy and not against relationship with America”. This indicates that the same furor will be repeated in near future when NDA under BJP will make an all-inclusive attempt to enact the same agreement again.

So why has BJP failed to rise above the partisan politics and save the national dignity? Perhaps Mr. Advani will gulp at this! But it is clear even for the party, which swears by the names of patriotism and national dignity, power happens to be all at the end of the day.
